In 2006, Miguel Guzman passed away and was laid to rest in central Argentina, where he'd lived all his life. Immediately following Guzman's death, his loyal German Shepherd, Capitan, disappeared. One week later, Guzman's family found Capitan in the graveyard, keeping loyal watch over his master's tomb.
Capitan hasn't left since. Instead, the cemetery's caretakers see to it that he is fed, and Capitan sees to it that his Guzman's final resting place is guarded day and night. Veronica Guzman, the widow, says that she'd never taken Capitan to the graveyard before the dog found his way there, saying, “It is a mystery how he managed to find the place" ...

The story reminds me of Hachiko, the dog in Japan who waited at the train station for its owner to come back from work, even after the owner's death. Dogs really are man's best friend.
