Majority of Americans Would Put Themselves in Danger to Get a Lost Phone Back

Americans really like their smartphones. A new study by the phone security company Lookout found that nearly 70 percent of Americans would be willing to put themselves in actual danger just to retrieve a lost or stolen phone. Nearly half said that they would pay $500 to get their phone (with all of its data) back, and a third said they would fork over up to $1,000! We get that having to pull down all of your contacts and media off the cloud, wipe your old phone remotely and re-download a half-dozen versions of Angry Birds is annoying, but risking your life to save an iPhone seems a little extreme …
