On Thursday, the first in a rumored series of collaborations between famous songwriter Kanye West and other very famous songwriter Paul McCartney dropped. It’s called “Only One,” and although Sir Paul’s vocals are mostly background, the song sounds more like McCartney than it does Ye. Written as a letter of the things West’s mother, Donda, might say to his daughter if she had lived to meet her (Donda passed away in 2007), it’s easily the sweetest, most sentimental thing we’ve ever heard from Kanye, and is also one of McCartney’s better post-Wings works.
