Groom Poorly Fakes Death to Get Out of Wedding

You’d have to be crazy to not get a little nervous in the days leading up to your wedding. It’s a big commitment, and it’s important to take those pre-marriage jitters seriously. Most likely, they just mean you’re human, and you’ve got some perfectly normal anxieties. But if you have real doubts about the wedding, you may have to make some drastic decisions. Such was the case of Connecticut’s Tucker Blandford, who was engaged a Brit named Alex Lanchester. Tucker had some doubts about the wedding and decided to call it off in dramatic fashion: by calling Lanchester, lowering his voice to mimic his father’s, and telling her:

Alex, this is Tucker’s dad. There’s no easy way to say this… I am sorry to say that Tucker is dead.”

Tucker explained that his “son” had been killed in a car accident. Lanchester was obviously beside herself and called Tucker’s mother to mourn with her, which is where Tucker’s story fell apart. His mother informed Lanchester that Tucker was perfectly fine, other than the fact that he is a terrible liar, very bad at faking his own death and maybe not the best marriage material. “All I ever did was love him,” Lanchester told reporters. “After this I’m not sure I can trust a man ever again” …
