Google Reveals What We Searched for in 2013

Google has released a look back at the year in search, breaking down what users Googled across a variety of categories. The most-searched for people list was dominated by pop stars, with Miley Cyrus beating out Drake, Kim Kardashian, Justin Bieber and Beyonce. Globally, Nelson Mandela led the “Top Trending” searches, (which measures “search topics with the largest increase in search volume since the previous period), followed by Paul Walker, iPhone 5s, Cory Monteith and the already-forgotten dance craze, the Harlem Shake. Some other notable U.S. trend leaders include TOMS, which beat out Nike and Aldo to become the most-searched for shoe brand; Breaking Bad and Duck Dynasty, which topped the most searched for TV show list; and “New Pope” which was the No. 8 most searched for event in 2013.
