Elderly Christian Missionary from Australia Arrested in North Korea

A 75-year-old man from Australia has been arrested in North Korea. The family of John Short told Reuters that he was open about his intensions of sharing his Christian faith and was in possession of evangelistic literature that had been translated into Korean. It is Short’s second mission trip to the reclusive country. His wife told the news agency,

I’m not upset, we’re Christian missionaries and we have tremendous support for what we do … He’s courageous, this is my husband’s character. I hope things get better—he’s in God’s hands, we both totally believe that.

Short is the second Christian missionary currently detained in the country. American Kenneth Bae, who also did ministry in the country, was sentence to 15-years in a labor camp for unspecified “crimes” against the regime of Kim Jong-un.
