The Muppets may soon be returning to TV. According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, ABC has teamed with Big Bang Theory co-creator Bill Prady for a new primetime variety show, that would be similar to The Muppet Show of the late ‘70s. THR says that if a proof-of-concept presentation with advertisers receives strong feedback next month, the series could be quickly greenlit. As with many Muppets projects, the new concept involves celebrity cameos and a healthy dose of self-aware satire: The presentation in May will show Kermit and the cast meeting at the ABC studios discussing the relational conflicts standing in the way of the reboot.
