We latch onto certain biblical characters as our own personal portholes to the rest of the Bible. We see ourselves in them, understand their motives and, in their situations, would probably do the same thing they did. Which biblical character do you most closely identify with?

I identify with Paul. Paul was fierce in his love for God. I especially identify with his character that completely followed God even until death. He was also a brilliant man, and I love the way he thought and wrote, and used subtle logic to upend fundamental Greek philosophy. Simply put, I identify with his fierce love of God, and his brilliance. Paul was the apostle of the heart set free. I am already free, but I want to be free like Paul, and love God as he did.

Jonathan. A peacemaker at heart, and fiercely loyal to the people he loved, to the point of being painfully stuck in the middle as his father Saul tried to hunt down his best friend David. It isn't recorded in Scripture, but I'm pretty sure Rodney King borrowed from Jonathan when he famously cried, "Can't we all just get along?"

Peter...I love God and sometimes I let my passion and emotions get the best of me. I'm willing to do anything for God but sometimes I get in my own way.

Jonah. I find that oftentimes my initial response to God's calling is to run in the opposite direction. However, he usually brings me back:p
