Um ... That's Not Really "Dialogue"

This weekend, thousands of atheists held a "Reason Rally" at the National Mall in Washington, D.C. Billed as an opportunity for atheists to "come out," the rally also featured a speech by Dr. Richard Dawkins, author The God Delusion. Dawkins urged rally attendees to "ridicule" and "mock" people of faith in public. So ... atheists are the new fundamentalist Christians? ...

"So ... atheists are the new fundamentalist Christians? ..." Wow, fundamentalists have been far from perfect, but you take it a little far. Your comment smacks of Christianity that's trying to stir up Millennial angst; it's not honoring of God, nor to those fundamentalists / Christians who've faithfully served God in trenches here and across the globe. Broad-brushing is anything but cool.

Yeah, sure, writting books, speaking and making satire is the same that claiming god hates people you disagree with or claiming terrorist attacks are punishments for sin...

If you have seen atheist picketing funerals with signs, blowing themselves up in the name of the FSM or in a killing sprew against doctors.. let me to know.

I'm not sure bullying is the same as Satire. Nor am I sure that you would see Francis Chan encouraging people that Atheism is a 'virus' and that you should mock and intimidate people of faith.

Are atheists the new fundamentalist Christians? Allow me to put it another way: there are a handful of strident atheist spokespeople whose actions give a ton of thoughtful, respectful, compassionate atheists a bad name. There are a handful of strident Christian spokespeople who give a ton of thoughtful, respectful, compassionate Christians a bad name. That's where I think the parallel lies.

I don't think they are the new but there are quite a few who act in similar way. I've never attached Richard Dawkins actions to my atheists friends because that guy is a little crazy and making the comparison to pat Roberts really is not that far off.... I mean honestly ridicule and mock people in public what point is there to that?
