Last night at the MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West got on stage during Taylor Swift's acceptance speech and took the microphone, yelling that Beyonce should have won the award (the supremely awkward video is after the jump). Ah Kanye ... the world would be such a nicer place if you were mute except in the studio ...

Well, the camera would have been on her (Beyonce) because she was nominated for the same award. There likely would be cameras on all of the nominees.
But, anyway, this is awkward....staged or not.

Are you kidding me? Beyonce was in the running for that award. The camera was already there.
And, besides everyone knows that while Kanye may be a musical genius, he has proved time and time again that he has no common sense or self awareness. He's like the "Michael Scott" of the music world.

A director (of a live show) job is to quickly know and anticipate which camera to cut to in a split second. The call out camera numbers all throughout, and a technician suppose to quickly press the button for the correct camera # almost simultaneously. The control room has multiple moniters that display what each camera is lookinh at, so the director see's what is happening while everyone is onlt watching the live camera. It also helps that MTV knows and anticipates for things like this happen. The director must have been confused if you look back. He/she switched back and forth between Tracy Jordan's clip and Taylor Swift on-stage. Later they told Taylor to prepare herself just in case Beyonce asks her to come out.

I don't think she needs a stunt like that. And Oldenburg, they usually have the camera ready on all of the nominees to get their immediate reactions to the winner.
