CISPA Act Two

For the second time in as many years, the Cyber Intelligence Sharing and Protection Act (CISPA) died on the Senate floor before it could even get in front of President Obama. Ostensibly, the bill is about allowing more sharing of cyber threat intelligence between private companies and the government.

Despite many assurances that the bill is intended purely for security and terror-prevention, the Internet raised a collective howl over privacy concerns. Although the House passed the bill by a healthy margin, the Senate killed CISPA with little aplomb.
