7 of Our Favorite Moments From the 2017 Grammys

The 59th Grammy Awards were last night and the show was jam-packed with performances we loved. From James Corden tumbling down an entire flight of stairs to touching tributes and dynamic collaborations, the whole night was swarming with soul and iconic moments. It also looked like a whole lot of fun. To commemorate an evening riddled with what is bound to become music history, we put together a list of seven powerful moments from last night’s Grammys.

Chance the Rapper’s performance

Chance the Rapper took everyone to church last night on live television when his Grammy performance broke out into straight-up worship.

James Corden’s entrance needed no introduction.

This year’s host James Corden opened the show with a number that began with him falling down an entire flight of stairs and ended in him rapping about hosting the Grammys. The slapstick intro set the tone for the evening and was a hilariously perfect way to kick off to the night.

Adele’s George Michael tribute was perfect.

Adele hit the stage to pay homage to the late George Michael and sing his song, “Fastlove.” After a rough start to the song, the singer stopped the performance to start the song over saying, “I’m sorry, I can’t mess this up for him,” proving once and for all we don’t love Adele because she’s perfect, we love her because she’s human.

Bruno Mars and Time played one of the best tributes of all time.

Fewer people are more qualified to pay tribute to the late and legendary Prince than Bruno Mars and the band Prince wrote for and produced for, The Time. If you missed the performance all you need to know is Mars appeared on stage in a sequined purple jacket, a legendary white guitar and harnessed the star power of Prince reincarnate.

Cee Lo Green decided to dress like an actual Grammy.

What is there to say, really.

James Corden’s Carpool Karaoke

This was the Ellen selfie moment of the Grammys. To be fair though, Corden’s Carpool Karaoke was probably the deciding factor in having him host the Grammys, so ending the show with a tribute to the segment seems more than reasonable.

Beyonce

Beyonce took the stage and executed the most Grammy-worthy performance in her first public appearance since announcing that she was pregnant with twins. The performance was a celebration of motherhood, sisterhood and love that built off of the themes of Lemonade, visually. This performance was a continuation of the revolutionary art for which she was nominated.
