Admit it: You’d expect something a bit liturgical from a band named after the 116th page (CXVI = 116 in Roman numerals) of The Magician’s Nephew by C.S. Lewis—the moment Aslan sings creation into existence—and you would be right. The project, started four years ago by Autumn Film bandmates Tifah Phillips, Dann Stockton and Reid Phillips, centers on modernizing old hymns.

“We were leading worship in churches a lot,” says Stockton. “We were playing hymns, but we didn’t have anything recorded and we didn’t have a name ... We were doing something different.”
