RELEVANT Recommends

Unless you've been living in some sort of fortress of solitude lately, you're aware of this weekend's biggest movie. Early reviews suggest it's a suitably entertaining return for the Man of Steel, if not quite the Dark Knight-level reboot some had hoped for. And if superhero movies aren't your thing, there's still plenty of entertainment out there this weekend. Go check it out and report back on Monday. Up, up and away.

Man of Steel

Why We Like It

This summer's biggest movie comes out this weekend, starring the world's biggest superhero. While Zack Snyder's directorial prowess is somewhat suspect, the assured guiding hand of Christopher Nolan (who has some experience in rebooting superhero franchises) ought to make this one worth your while.

The Bling Ring

Why We Like It

For those adverse to superhero flicks, Sophia Coppola's The Bling Ring hits theaters this weekend. It stars Emma Watson as a fame-obsessed crook who takes to robbing celebrities, and promises to be yet another of Coppola's slow, thoughtful meditations on the quiet despair of the rich and bored.

'Tomorrow's Harvest,' The Boards of Canada

Why We Like It

It's been almost eight years since the Boards of Canada released their excellent The Campfire Headphase, but the elusive and brilliant Scottish duo is back with another fine bit of electronica wizardry. It's called Tomorrow's Harvest and it's an incredible tapestry of sounds and impressions.

The Last of Us

Why We Like It

Playstation 3 looks to be going out with a bang, as the soon-to-be-dead console's release of The Last of Us is garnering nearly universal praise for its riveting story and immaculate gameplay. It follows the journey of an older man and a young girl across a post-apocalyptic America.

'Pythons,' Surfer Blood

Why We Like It

It's been a while since we've heard from Surfer Blood, who stunned with their 2010 debut, but haven't released a proper follow-up till this week's Pythons. Those looking to scratch a California-esque Weezer-type rock itch will dig it.

I COMPLETELY recommend 'Man of Steel', just be sure to bring tissue, it is not your regular super hero movie.
