Steve McQueen’s epic 12 Years a Slave beat out Captain Phillips, Gravity, Philomena and Rush to take home the award for Best Motion Picture, Drama at last night’s Golden Globe Awards, but the night’s real winners were the host. As expected, the duo of Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were the highlight of the show. The recently concluded Breaking Bad won for Best TV Series, Drama and David O. Russell’s American Hustle won Best Comedy/Musical in a loaded field that included Her, Inside Llewyn Davis, Nebraska and The Wolf of Wall Street. Also among some of the evening’s trophy recipients were Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron (Best Director), Cate Blanchett (Best Actress, Drama for her role in Blue Jasmine), Dallas Buyers Club’s Matthew McConaughey (Best Actor, Drama), Amy Adams (Best Actress, Comedy for American Hustle) and Leonardo DiCaprio (Best Actor, Comedy in The Wolf of Wall Street). Though, anyone who watched can agree the real scene-stealers last night were Fey and Poehler, who showed why they are two of the funniest people in Hollywood.
